Sicca-Stulln®
Composition:
1 ml of solution contains : active pharmaceutical ingredient : Hydromellose 3.0 mg ( 2 % solution: 3500 to 5600 mPa s at 20^C ). Other ingredients: benzalkonikum chloride solution ( 50 % m/V ), sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium teraborate, boric acid, water.
Indications and usage:
Sicca-Stulln is used to prevent corneal damage which may result from dry corneal inflammation (kerato conjubctivitis sicca) e.g. in conjunction with rheumatoid arthritis.
Contraindications:
Sicca-Stulln may not be used in patients who have shown hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients contained in this product. During the application of Sicca-Stulln soft contact lenses should not be used.
What should you observe during pregnancy and when nursing?
There is no adequate data available concerning potential risks of the use of benzalkonikum chloride in pregnant woman. Sicca-Stulln should not be used during the first trimester or only if the potential benefits justify the potential risks to the fetus.
Side-effects:
Sicca-Stulln contains the preservative benzalkonikum chloride, which may lead to corneal irritation (burning, red eyes, forgein body sensation) and consequent damage to the corneal epithelium especially when used frequently or over a longer period of time. Preservative-free eye drops therefore should be given preference for the long-term treatment of chronic kerato conjunctivitis.
Warnings:
Administration of Sicca-Stulln may cause blurred vision for a short period of time.
Drug interactions:
Sicca- Stulln possibly extends the contacts time of the drugs applied into the eye. Incompatibliities with phenols, tannin, oxidants (particularly in alkaline surroundings) as well as ichthammol exist.
